Conference: 3 - 8 September

“Digital Sense and Nonsense: Digital Decision Making in Sound and Audiovisual Collections”

On Wednesday, September 7th Joerg Houpert will give an oral presentation about
New Technology for Quality-Supervised Mass Digitization of Video Tape Collections.

Millions of analog video tapes will have to be transferred to file-based mass storage systems during the next years. Many of these collections, which are recorded in standard video formats, are of mostly homogeneous technical quality and still in proper playable condition. A new video mass digitization system is needed which - compared to today's state of the art - drastically improves the recording efficiency as well as the possibilities of technical quality supervision. This is most likely to be realized with a factory approach. Because of the high throughput rate a streamlined process will be essential. Furthermore, the process needs to provide a precise and efficient quality assurance.
The detection of transfer-related errors also is of high priority, because if such errors occur, the technical quality of the achieved file will be worse than the quality of the physical analog tape. This absolutely has to be prevented, as this will be the final transfer. The presentation will describe the complete process chain from the signal retrieval to the final preservation files and easy access to production and preview copies.

IBC 2011

Conference: 8 - 13 September / Exhibition: 9 - 13 September

Cube-Tec unveils two major products: QUADRIGA Video and Cube-Workflow 2.0.

QUADRIGA Video, the new solution for mass-ingest of video tape archives introduces new concepts for quality control and workflow efficiency. The QUADRIGA Video technology, a joint development with Fraunhofer IIS, is a video-cassette transfer system for file-based high quality content preservation.

Cube-Workflow 2.0 is the next generation for file-based media business automation and workgroup efficiency.

  • automated audiovisual content verification with QC metadata enrichment
  • flexible file-based media processing, transcoding and automatic restoration
  • supports new formats, like MXF AS-02, JPEG 2000, DCP, MAP (Master Archive Package)
  • agile methods for business process definitions
  • rich web-based user centric interface
  • personalized graphical dashboards for ad-hoc analytics and reporting
  • transcoding server farm with intelligent load balancing
  • designed around new open media standards like EBU/AMWA FIMS framework and IMF Interoperable Master Format (ETC)

Come and see a complete workflow from legacy ingest, transcoding, quality control and digital preservation. We will demonstrate our solutions with a hardware accelerated DVS Venice multi-channel video server.

Come and visit Cube-Tec International at stand 8.D03.

IBC conference EBU stand

Cube-Tec International, EBU and AMWA exhibit open standards for media services

In collaboration with the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) and AMWA (Advanced Media Workflow Association), Cube-Tec will demonstrate interoperable media services within the service orchestration engines of IBM and Sony.

As one of the first companies being able to present media services which meet the latest FIMS specifications (Framework for Interoperable Media Services), Cube-Tec International will reveal a fully automated service for loudness normalisation according to EBU R 128.

FIMS will be demonstrated at the EBU Village near the IBC conference centre at stand 10.F20.
